From Buddy Holly to The Rolling Stones

Keys' first major break came in 1964 when he was recruited by Buddy Holly's band, The Crickets, to replace the late saxophonist, Clarence "Frogman" Henry. Keys' fiery and passionate solos on Holly's posthumously released album, "The Buddy Holly Story," helped solidify his reputation as a rising star.

Following Holly's untimely death, Keys embarked on a series of collaborations with other notable musicians, including John Lennon, Leon Russell, and Joe Cocker. However, it was his association with The Rolling Stones that would ultimately define his career.

The Stones' Saxophone King

Keef Richards first met Bobby Keys in 1964, and the two quickly struck up a close friendship. In 1969, Keys was invited to play on the Stones' seminal album, "Let It Bleed." His haunting saxophone solo on "Live with Me" is considered one of the most iconic and spine-tingling moments in rock history.

Dylan and Beyond

In addition to his work with The Rolling Stones, Bobby Keys also made significant contributions to Bob Dylan's music. He played on some of Dylan's most acclaimed albums, including "Blonde on Blonde," "Highway 61 Revisited," and "Blood on the Tracks." His soaring solos helped elevate Dylan's songs to new heights of intensity and emotional depth.
